Overview

Video Converter is a simple tool, which helps you to convert your video files from one format to another. You can convert:

• - MPEG (*.mpg, *.mpeg, *.m1v) files;

• - DVD (*.vob) files;

• - QuickTime (*.mov, *.qt) files;

• - AVI files;

• - WMV (*.wmv) files;

• -VCD (*.dat) files

If you have DivX codec installed on your computer, you can convert MPEG, QuickTime, AVI to DivX format. Read   F.A.Q. chapter for more information. You can process several conversion tasks in a time. You also can create different conversion profiles.

How to use
 

1. Press "Open"button to open file open dialog. Select file you want to convert. You can set target file name. You can remove file from the list, using "Remove" button.

2. You can create conversion profile or choose existing one. Press "Options" button to open "Conversion options" dialog. Enter profile name, choose video and audio codecs and press "Save" button. Press "Delete" button to delete selected profile. If you want to discard changes, press "Cancel" button.

3. Click "Convert" button to began conversion process. You can stop conversion by button.

F.A.Q.

1. What is CODEC?

Word CODEC is interpreted as "COmpressor/DECompressor". Every video file uses CODEC to compress video and audio streams and decompress them while playback. There are many various codecs. Some CODECs come with Windows. Some CODECs you can download from the Internet.

2. What codecs were installed on my Windows?

- open Windows Control Panel: START > Settings > Control Panel;

- click on the Sounds and Audio Devices icon, then select the Hardware tab;

- choose Audio Codecs or Video Codecs and press Properties button. Select the Properties tab to view the list of the installed codecs.

3. How do I convert the video files to DivX?

DivX is just a codec, which you can use in conversation. You can download DivX codec here: http://www.divx.com/divx/. So, if you already have DivX codec, you should set it in the Conversion options dialog. Press (Options) button, choose DivX codec from the Video codecs list and save profile. You should use this profile to convert your video files to DivX.

4. Can I add several files to the conversion list at once?

You should right click on the conversation list and select "Add files" from the menu. You can select several files at once (press down and hold the 'Ctrl' key while selecting files).

5. I can't convert QuickTime video files to AVI.

You should download and install QuickTime Alternative package to convert QuickTime movies to AVI format. You can get QuickTime Alternative package here .

Registration

Movie Converter is shareware software. You can work with unregistered version, but unregistered version converts only short video files. Registered version of Movie Converter has no limitations. You can register it for 15 USD. Visit  Register page  to register the software.
